Wakeman Town Farm hosted their second annual “Grassroots Harvest Dinner” last weekend. This “fun-raiser” benefits the town-owned working farm and sustainability center. The farm is a non-profit resource that provides hands-on educational experiences to young Westporters, free camperships to youngsters from urban areas and special farm-related programs for the Westport community.
Held on the Wakeman property under a festive tent with twinkling lights, this sold-out dinner was indeed a magical event. Local rock star chefs created a special menu using the freshest produce provided by our generous area farmers. The dinner’s presenting chefs included Pat Pascarella of Bar Sugo in Norwalk, Arik Bensimon of LeFarm in Westport and our Culinary Director, Adam Halberg.
Chef Adam served mangalica ham with wild pear, roasted baby carrots with rosemary glaze and spice almonds, winter squash tartlets with herbed ricotta and kale oyster and potato soup. Guests ended the evening with a delicious dessert prepared by Chef Arik of LeFarm and coffee provided by Rowayton-based Steam Coffee Bar.
